What videobunny does, where your files go, and what it cannot save.
What is videobunny?
videobunny is a browser video downloader with a local library. It saves supported video files and on-demand HLS/M3U8 and DASH streams, converts supported audio to MP3, and lets you play and organize downloads on your device.
Which browsers can use videobunny?
Install the current extension from the Chrome Web Store in Chrome or Opera on desktop. Other Chromium browsers, such as Edge, Brave and Vivaldi, may also install the same package; media support can differ. Firefox and Safari editions are not publicly available yet.
Can videobunny download YouTube videos?
No. The Chrome Web Store version does not support YouTube downloads. DRM-protected media and live streams are also not supported. Premium does not remove these limitations.
Does videobunny work on every website?
No. Availability depends on the website, your access to the video, the media format and your browser’s decoding support. Start playback before opening the extension. Only download content you own or have permission to save.
Is videobunny free?
Free includes unlimited direct video file downloads and an allowance for advanced downloads. Streams, separate-track processing and MP3 conversion use that allowance. Current limits and temporary offers appear in the extension and on the Plans page. Failed and canceled downloads do not use a credit.
Can I choose the video quality?
Use the arrow beside Download to select from the available quality options. Auto targets up to 1080p. The card shows the selected quality. The extension cannot add detail that is absent from the source video.
How do I download audio as MP3?
Use the music button beside Download. Its tooltip is Download Audio. videobunny converts a supported audio track locally to MP3. A readable audio track and browser decoding support are required.
Where are downloaded videos stored?
Media files are saved to your browser’s download location, with an optional subfolder. Your library and a playback copy stay in that browser installation on your device. The playback copy uses extra storage. Clearing library history removes those local copies and records, but keeps files in your download folder.
Do I need an account?
An account is optional for Free use. Connect an account from Settings to check your membership and share your advanced download allowance across connected installations. Account connection does not upload your videos or synchronize your local library.
Does changing a cover or title modify the video?
No. A custom cover changes the image in the videobunny library. Editing a display title leaves the downloaded filename unchanged. These edits do not change the video’s embedded artwork.
Why does videobunny request access to websites?
The extension needs website access to detect media requests and obtain supported video sources from the pages you visit. Download permission saves files. Local storage keeps preferences, membership information and library records. Media processing runs on your device. Read the Privacy policy for the full data handling details.
What happens when I close the browser during a download?
Completed files and library records are kept. An unfinished download cannot resume after a browser restart. Reopen the original video page and start a new attempt. Keep the source tab open until a download finishes.
